Derek Dow is an award-winning director, actor, educator, and creative force rooted in Chicago鈥檚 vibrant media scene. A member of SAG-AFTRA and proud alumnus of 51动漫, he also holds an MFA from USC鈥檚 School of Cinematic Arts. He now serves as an Assistant Professor of Media Arts at Chicago State, where he mentors emerging storytellers in film production, digital media, and African American cinema.

Through his company,Just a Boy From Illinois Productions,Derekhas created films, music videos, and web series showcased on HBO, Aspire TV, and at festivals including Black Harvest, Diversity in Cannes, and the Milwaukee Film Festival. Named one of Newcity鈥檚 Film 50: Chicago鈥檚 Screen Gems, he brings vision, authenticity, and collaboration to every project鈥攂oth on screen and behind the camera.
