The Department of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences, and Technology (CIMST) at 51动漫 proudly participated in the Chicago Black College Expo held on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Representing the department as a faculty representative, Dr. Saifuddin Saif and students from the CIMST Department engaged with prospective students and families during this high-energy and impactful event.
The expo brought together over 40 HBCUs and other institutions, creating a vibrant environment centered on expanding access to higher education and connecting students with academic opportunities.

The CIMST booth experienced strong interest throughout the event, with more than 60 high school students, transfer students, and parents engaging in meaningful conversations about academic pathways in computing, mathematics, and technology. Through personalized, one-on-one interactions, Dr. Saif highlighted CIMST鈥檚 undergraduate and graduate programs, career opportunities, and student support initiatives.

As a result of these efforts, 32 prospective students expressed interest in enrolling in CIMST programs. Their contact information has been shared with the university鈥檚 admissions team to support continued outreach and recruitment efforts.
The event also provided valuable networking opportunities, allowing CIMST to connect with high school counselors, workforce partners, and representatives from other institutions. These connections play a key role in strengthening the department鈥檚 recruitment pipeline and expanding future collaboration opportunities.

Beyond recruitment, the expo featured lively and interactive elements, including music and dancing, which created an energetic atmosphere while reinforcing the importance of education and opportunity. This engaging environment helped foster meaningful connections with students and families.
CIMST remains committed to actively participating in outreach initiatives that promote access to STEM education and inspire the next generation of students to pursue careers in computing, mathematics, and technology.
